Are Rats and Mice Making Your Vehicle a Home?

At Wyoming Valley Kia, we've been hearing stories about rodents moving into our customer's cars and trucks for many years. It's particularly troublesome if you live in rural area during the winter, and it doesn't help that car manufacturers have been switching to plant-based material in recent years.

The main problem with rats or mice under the hood is that they can chew through wiring and hoses. There are a few habits you can cultivate that'll remove some of your vehicle's attraction to animals. Pick up food from the ground around your car, and keep it neat and tidy inside.

If you continue to have trouble with pests nesting in the engine compartment, try blocking access to it under the vehicle with wire mesh or garden fencing. Critical wiring harness can get the same treatment to protect them from curious teeth.
